If you're a fan of zombie books or games, the apocalypse of a brain- or flesh-eating zombie-infested future, then this is exactly the kind of book right down your alley. The book follows a variety of characters as they are suddenly thrown into a nightmarish world, when an outbreak leads to many becoming zombies who now seek to turn those that were once their loved ones into the same. This adrenaline-fueled journey is definitely not one to miss out on, as each character faces a unique but connected dilemma.
I'm, at my core, a diehard fan of the last of us movie and game series, so when I see something crafted well into the same genre of writing, I am immediately intrigued. I love how each character aside Gus is also given sufficient back stories, which also has me rooting for their survival as much as possible. The variety of background and location to which they have to navigate through the horror scene is also a wonderful touch to the story telling, in my opinion.
I really can't fault anything I've read in this particular installation so far and look forward eagerly to the following ones. I rate this. book 5 out of 5, and it comes highly recommended to readers with an interest in horror-themed books.

For lovers of the horror genre, here comes a core classic in the genre, a story about a zombie apocalypse that promises to deliver a satisfying thrill and adrenaline rush. A sudden infection has taken the world by storm, and as it starts to spread, it turns people into zombies that have a thirst to turn and infect others, but in this post-apocalyptic nightmare, just trying to survive the zombies won't come close to the difficulty of trying to survive the ruthless action of other people trying to get through this with any means possible, no matter how ugly.
I love how realistic the unpredictability of human behavior is displayed here in the book. In a bid for survival, many will turn to the lowest and nastiest tricks in the book. Even worse is that some truly vile characters will simply do what they do not to survive but instead because they enjoy their actions and derive a twisted sense of satisfaction from it. The sense of growing danger and the air of anxiety that lingers with each chapter flipped through was also a thrilling experience to me, as the descriptiveness of the events by the author had me feeling like I was directly experiencing the events myself from the first-person perspective of the main character and other relevant characters.
Truly, this is a wonderful piece of horror literature that deserves recognition, and from what I've read so far, I can't find anything I'd rather nitpick about so far. I look forward to the other books in the series.
I give this book a well-deserved rating of 5 out of 5. I enjoyed every chapter and recommend it to readers that love zombie or horror-themed books that might share the same appreciation of the work.
